We’re having a quieter Christmas this year and avoiding the unnecessary spend. With that in mind, I thought this roadside find would make a lovely rustic Christmas box. Found these fallen pine cones at the park and mixed them with bits of tinsel, broken baubles and handmade clay stars. My clay stars are very basic, but they do the job. Around the blogs, I’m inspired by some of the gorgeous clay creations I’ve seen, including these beauties from Jami at Freckled Laundry.
I’m a sucker for quality kids wall art. Pinwheel Girl and Sailor Boy are two of several delightful prints designed by Lorena Siminovich and available from Petite Collage.
This super sweet apple template from Melyssa at fantastINK inspired me to dig up a roll of iron-on transfer paper. The chalkboard table is another roadside pick up – it used to look like this.
Thanks to some babycino bribery, the headband stayed on just long enough to take this photo. For now, the response to this creation is lukewarm!
More creative endeavours here.
Really just an excuse to visit Little Byrd Vintage, a current Etsy fav of mine. It features a beautiful handpicked selection of old wares that sell quickly.
It’s described as an office in a closet but all you need to do is replace the computer with a sewing machine.

I’m getting more selective with roadside finds. Was a time I’d spot an old chair and think, ‘You’d look great painted white’, instead of considering the time needed to sand it, the cost to paint it …or if we even had the room for it. The last thing you want to do is haul something home only to be adding it back to the rubbish pile. So now (before leaping out of the car), I try and make sure I have an intended use in mind. When I saw this old toolbox, I knew what it was going to be – the youngest reader in our house has an overflowing book basket and we needed a more storage. Voila! I love the timber detail and the curves.
